Communications Major thinking of switching into Marketing

Hello everyone, I've just begun my second year as a Communications Major and over the past year, I've taken quite a big interest in marketing. I understand that marketing is a very vast field with an array of different skills sets required, or recommended, for each specific job. My question is: do you think switching to a Bcomm in Marketing will be more beneficial to me in pursuing a job in that field than a Communications degree? Also, is there any direction you guys can shoot me to that might help me decide which branch of marketing is right for me? Any help eill be appreciated!

  • Communications Major thinking of switching into Marketing. ... Your major is close enough to land you a job in the marketing field. Don't switch if it will delay graduation. If, however, it won't damage your timeline too much and it'll make college more enjoyable for you, then go for it.

  • he ability to communicate effectively is essential for many careers and organizational structures. As companies evolve and grow, they need strong communicators to articulate their messages and reach target audiences. Many undergraduate degrees promote skills in this area, but students should consider key differences among their options and how each potential degree suits their interests and goals. Two common undergraduate degree paths are marketing and communication.
