AS A CHILD, WE HAVE LOTS OF GOALS TO ACHIEVE, LOTS OF DREAMS TO FULFILL. WHEN I WAS IN CLASS 5TH, I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A PILOT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE EASIEST AND BEST THING TO DO. AEROPLANES AND HELICOPTERS FLYING HIGH IN THE SKY ALLURED ME TOWARDS THEM. NOTHING DID I KNEW ABOUT THE DAYS THAT WERE LYING AHEAD OF ME AFTER 12TH. When I COMPLETED MY 12TH, I WAS SIMPLY CLUELESS AS TO WHAT I WOULD DO ABOUT MY FURTHER STUDIES. SEEING ALL MY BATCHMATES INCLINED TOWARDS AN APPEALING STREAM, B.TECH. , I WAS AT ONCE CONVINCED THAT I WOULD PURSUE ENGINEERING AS IT HAD IIT WHICH LURED ANYONE AND EVERYONE TOWARDS IT. SO, I DIDN’T BOTHER TO CHECK ANY OTHER COURSES AND JUST WENT ON WITH IT.
TODAY, IN B.TECH. 3RD YEAR, WHEN I NEED TO CHOOSE A FURTHER CAREER OPTION OF WHETHER TO PURSUE M.TECH OR MBA I HAVE THE SAME DILEMMA. BUT, AFTER 4 YEARS OF SEEING THE WORLD AND THE COMPETITION INSIDE OUT, I HAVE REALIZED THAT I HAVE TO CHOOSE THE THING I AM BEST AT. WELL, THIS IS WHAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO. SO, WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE THEN? THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT M.TECH WOULD BE EASY FOR ME AS COMPARED TO MBA BECAUSE, M.TECH, AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, EXTENDS THE KNOWLEDGE AND STUDIES YOU DO DURING B.TECH. AND MBA, ON THE OTHER HAND, COMPRISES ENGLISH AND APTITUDE, WHICH I THINK I'M PRETTY MUCH GOOD AT. SO, EVENTUALLY, I DECIDED TO CHOOSE MBA I.E. CAT OVER M.TECH. I.E. GATE.
This so because when I had to choose between these two, the only thing I thought was “WHAT IF?
and this question answered whatever I wanted to know.
I asked myself: What if I don’t qualify even after lots of preparation. The answer was straight and simple. IF I PREPARED FOR GATE AND DIDN’T QUALIFY FOR THE SAME, I WOULD REGRET IT MY WHOLE LIFE THAT I DIDN’T PREPARE FOR CAT i.e. MBA but the vice versa was NOT TRUE that is that IF I PREPARED FOR CAT AND DIDN’T QUALIFY FOR THE SAME, I WOULD NEVER EVER REGRET AND SAY TO MYSELF THAT I WISH I HAD PREPARED FOR GATE . That’s the only logic. Just ask yourself that If you fail someday at whatever it is you are doing and you start regretting that had you done the things the other way around, you would have succeeded, then you’ll get to know what you like and what you want to do. The answer lies within you. You just need to explore yourself and take the right decision.
AND YES, MIND YOU, THE EASIEST THING AMONG EVERY CAREER OPTION IS STUDYING. ALWAYS DO REMEMBER THAT WHENEVER YOU START HATING STUDIES.
