As i took drawing classes some 7 to 8 years back. i was taught that RED, BLUE and YELLOW are the primary colours.
The reason behind it is that by using these colours we can make different colours colours (secondary colours). By cmbining these colours in different ratios we can make other colours.
Example:-
~ Blue + red = brown
~ yellow+blue(less)= green
~yellow+ red= orange.
so with different ratio you'll get different colours.
