What is more important, Goodness or Smartness?

If you had to choose between these what would you choose?

These are the two terms that in most of the cases find it hard to come together when you talk about something that relates to an organization setting. Because sometimes you just need to forego goodness to be smart enough and same with vice versa. But if you look at it from a different point of perspective, yes, you may be able to blend these two words together. 
So considering what is important for me, I would first consider the environment where I am and then think whether to apply a single or a blended measure of both.
