why javascript is used? is their any alternative to this language

javascript is a client side scripting language for performing events in the client side and it is mainly used for performing validations in the client side. yes, there are alternatives to this languages, there are jscript, vbscript, coffeescript etc. are the languages that can be used in the place of javascript.
