What are bolts of uniform strength, how are they made and what are the advantages of it?

When a bolt(which is like a thread fastener) is subjected to shock,the concentration of load is felt at the weaker part(threaded portion)of the bolt.To have uniform distribution of load on the bolt , shank of bolt is turned down to the diameter same or slight lesser than the core diameter of the thread.Hence a bolt of uniform strength is obtained.By this method the bolt becomes lighter,absorbs shock smoothly and becomes stronger.
