SERVER-SIDE :
If you want to use PHP scripts on server-side like a webpage, you can use Wamp, mamp, Xampp, easyphp, whatever. You have tons of tutorials on it.
You can do manually but itis not really convenient as wamp.
I can give you some other way for windows :
You can use webmatrix with Web Platform and install php directly. Because you can simulate php on IIS Server. If you want want apache, wamp is better.
