Welding positions: thick plates and tubes

Are the welding positions applied to the thick steel plates the same as for the steel tubes? Why?

  • Yes, they are the same 5 welding positions. What differs for the tubes is the API normatization and their qualifications of each welding process and the welders. Welding of rotating tubes is a qualification requirement for welders.
