  • I have worked on production and quality management of data which is used for navigation application ( Here Map-subsidiary of Nokia).
    I have done a project which is really helpful for my past organization, I have resolved the problem to find the duplicate POI's ( Point of Interest- like shops or places ) which exist in our database. This type of duplicate data make our database heavy and due to this they are showing exactly same POI name multiples times at single place which creates a problem to recognize the correct place or shops location.
    Its all location recognition based on the Latitude-Longitude and POI name so I wrote a method to recognize the POI on the basis of Lat-Long. If the POI name is matched within a specified area then we considered it as a duplicate POI. and the distance calculation of on spherical object (earth) is done by using Haversine formula.
    And by this we are able to recognize duplicates POI.
