On day 1, SSB authorities conduct screening process to sieve out underprepared and non-interested candidates. It is simple process and consists of two assessments:

1. OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating)

This is as the name suggests maps the intelligence quotient of the candidate.

The aim is to test the aptitude which is required to become an officer in Armed forces. It consists of MCQ type of questions based on arithmetic, aptitude, GK and English Language. You can attempt tests on Youth4work for equipping yourself with confidence before you appear for your SSB.

The chances of clearing screening triples post giving these tests online.

2. PPDT (Picture Perception and Descriptive Test)

This is an important part of screening process. Over here you’ll shown a blurred image which may or may not have clear figures, living or non living, male or female, adult or a child. It is entirely your prerogative how you perceive this image. Then you’ve to scribble a narration of what sense you can make out this picture.

After that you’ll have a GD, where everyone will be given a chance to speak in a clockwise manner. You need to present your argument, and try to narrate a tale based on your imagination. You must necessarily narrate an incident which has connotations with a social problem. If possible, narrating stories on social issues like women empowerment and illiteracy irradiation. Your group will also be asked to conclude the story, see if there is a consensus with your story among your peers. You can speak in Hindi, but my suggestion will be to adhere to English.
