One very common question heard from young engineering graduates is- do I need to drop year for GATE preparation? The questing flashes for at least once in the minds of graduates before venturing for GATE preparation. Well, I had also been a GATE aspirant in the past and so could easily identify with the conflicts arising in the minds of newbie. In this write-up, I would share my personal views on the stand try to address the query in the most beneficial manner possible.
While I just completed my schooling, I was utterly disheartened as I couldn’t get through these prestigious entrance exams of engineering colleges. Thus, I faced tough time entering into engineering. Though I made up my mind to give a try the following year yet my parents held up for payment seat. Being obstinate, I fight with ma parents but ultimately had to abide by this decision. I always had this remorse in heart that I was deprived of the opportunity of proving my mettle. Nevertheless, it also became my driving force to utilize the resources provided at the college to the maximum as I had paid for them the highest price. By the end of the course, I had made up my mind to pursue MTech from college of my choice in India. This necessitated the requirement of getting through GATE and fortunately, I got through it with continuous effort and smart study alongwith the last semester exams.
Now when I look back at the past, I feel glad that my father took just the right decision for me. He was right in his vision and prevented me from ruining another precious year of my life. I feel damn fantastic for the reason.
Nobody knows you better than yourself. You understand your abilities and are also well aware of the crazily rocketing competition. You better decide if could fare well in the spare year or still going to defend balls and give life another shot. If I am to be asked, I would really not recommend the average goers to drop and wait for an entire year to prepare for the exam. Remember, time is precious. Once gone, it can never be recalled.
It’s okay if you can seek a seat in any recognised institute and not the hyped IITs. However, if you can afford it, then the story can flip 180 degrees for sure.
A year saved in the youth would save ten afterwards. The realizations will dawn upon us at juncture in later life.
The whole idea is to open yourself to better opportunities and move ahead in life than ruining another precious year and landing upon similar situation.
