Study Of Fingerprint Enhancement Techniques And Designing Technique For Increased Accuracy In Matching Process

In this work preprocessing, feature extraction and post processing are the main key elements for our fingerprint enhancement recognition system. In preprocessing stage median filter is used for noise removal. After that thinning operation is perform on that image. In feature extraction with the help of minutia marking we find out the bifurcation and termination points of fingerprint image. In post processing we have used false minutia removal and based on that fingerprint minutia matching has been done. This false minutia significantly affects the accuracy of matching only if they are regarded as genuine minutia. So, some mechanisms of removing these false minutiae are essential in order to keep the fingerprint verification system effective.
