As of the third quarter of 2014, Facebook had 1.35 billion active users monthly. Therefore, a major part of the total population of the world is already a part of social media. People who remain in their friends or family circle are bounded by endless amounts of comments, likes and uploads. We do not have any choice other than to like them! Last year a study was conducted by Pew Research Center on the onset of Facebook's 10th anniversary and they revealed a wide array of startling facts, which I suppose you must be aware of:
1) 12 % of Facebook users say that someone has asked them to unfriend a person in their network.
2) 44% of Facebook users like content posted by their friends at least once a day, with 29% doing so several times per day. 31% comment on other peoples photos on a daily basis, with 15% doing so several times per day.
