Champions League is one of the most prestigious football competition in Europe. The competition had run since 1955 to 1992 with the name European Cup which was introduced with a new format and a new name now famously known as the Champions League. The first European Cup game was played on 4th of September between Sporting CP and Partizan which ended in a 3-3 draw.The inaugural Final was played at Parc Des Princes between Stade De Reims and Real Madrid which was won by Real Madrid. The Spanish squad came back from behind to win 4-3 crowning as the first European Cup winners.The competition have seen many greats like Alferd de stefano who played for Real Madrid in the competition from 1955 to 1964 scoring a total of 49 Goals.The modern era of this competition have seen even some more potential and big stars such as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Raul. The final of 2016-2017 Champions league will be played on 4th of June at millennium stadium, Cardiff. The final is to be played between Real Madrid and Juventus. The match is going to be a repeat of 1998 final at Amsterdam where the Spanish outfit won the trophy with a scoreline of 1-0. This is going to be 9th final for the Italian club who have just managed to win twice ending up as runners-up on 6 occasions. The Madrid club of Spain is the most successful team in the history of the competition winning the title 11 times. Real Madrid entered the competition as the defending champion and can go on to become the first team to successfully defend their title in the Champions League era.
