Ants are capable of finding the path from nest to the source of food without using visual cues. They generate the staright path by using Pheromone. Pheromone is a chemical that secreted by exocrine gland. Ant travels the pheromone chemical that cause they travel line by line if they move to new path then they modify the pheromone trail.
