what is semi conduter.....

semiconductor conductance lies conductor and insulator. its valence electrons ativates when some light falls on it and goes into conductance shell and hence conducts charges.

  • A semiconductor is a material product usually comprised of silicon, which conducts electricity more than an insulator, such as glass, but less than a pure conductor, such as copper or aluminum. Their conductivity and other properties can be altered with the introduction of impurities, called doping, to meet the specific needs of the electronic component in which it resides. Also known as semis, or chips, they can be found in thousands of products such as computers, appliances, gaming hardware, and medical equipment.

  • Semiconductor is that in which the conductivity properties can be controlled. In semiconductor the doping is done so that it can be converted into different properties.Basically semiconductor are of two types-
    1.n type semiconductor
    2.p type semiconductor

  • semiconductor is a conductor which works as a insulator in absolute zero degree celcius and works as a conductor on room temperature.
