Progressive Group Task
It consists of four different segments of obstacle courses, with increasing level of difficulty in chronological manner. You’re provided a wooden plank and log along with a jute rope to aid you in crossing these obstacles. You are expected to make the best possible use of these tools to make your group counter the hindrances in steps.
• Just make sure, you’re not applying muscle power to cross the obstacle. These tasks are so designed that you’ll not require any physical strength whatsoever to overcome these courses.
• Avoid anarchy, but also at the same time to follow a self proclaimed leader blindly.
• Display of leadership is key feature, at the same time consensus is paramount.
• In majority cases candidates struggle to defeat more than two obstacle courses out of four. It is perfectly fine and it must not deter your goal.
• Try to enjoy and gel with your group during the course of this exercise.
Half Group Task (HGT)
This exercise is very similar to the former but the major difference is in place of four segments it has only one and the group is split into two. Generally, candidates are able to complete this task with ease.
Command Task
In command task, you’re made a commander and entrusted to nominate couple of your teammates in your team. The aim is to tackle an obstacle with the help of tools and aids described above. The idea over here is to test your leadership skills on ground.
Final Group Task
Similar to half group task with only difference being the number of candidates. This is the last task of all the obstacle courses.
Individual Obstacle
This is quintessentially most popular and most talked about exercise. Task is simple there are ten obstacles of varied difficulty level. The high testosterone level has over hyped this exercise whose sole purpose is fun and test of your limits. My advice, take it easy and just enjoy this exercise, do not injure yourself unnecessarily as this exercise is not vital for your recommendation.
Lecturette
This exercise is undertaken only at few SSBs. The aim is to test your ideas and your elocution. You’re given four topics and you need to speak on one. Try to speak on a topic which is contemporary and robust.
Group Obstacle Race
Just like the former, you’ll find snake race only few SSBs. In this exercise your group is provided with a rope which you need to carry throughout the course of the race while crossing various obstacles. You’re made to compete with a rival group and the ultimate aim is to test group’s camaraderie and have some fun.
